John Greklek-Torres
Board Member
John Greklek-Torres has a documented 36 years in the addiction field. His current practice includes assisting individuals who struggle with mental health, alcoholism and drug addiction. He has extensive experience treating clients who have a history of opiate addiction. Mr. Torres received his formal addiction training while employed at Conifer Park located in Glenville, New York and is credentialed as a Master Level II New York State CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor). He graduated from Adelphi University in May of 2011 with his Masters in Social Work. He currently is licensed in the State of of New York as an LMSW. His therapeutic approach working with clients with addictions includes system and the strength based model of recovery. He is able to converse fluently in the Spanish language and takes pride in his Latino (Puerto Rican) heritage. He served with the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division and completed a one year internship with the Albany Stratton VA Homeless Program (HUD-VASH), and also with the Parsons Children and Family (prevention unit) programs in Albany, New York. He developed the first Latino inpatient substance abuse program for Conifer Park with Julio Martinez in 1990.
