ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) — National Night Out in Albany brought together hundreds of residents and law enforcement officers at Swinburne Park, aiming to strengthen community ties and reduce crime. The event, organized by the Albany Police Department, is part of ongoing efforts to curb teen violence in the city.
The event featured participation from community groups like the Capital District Recovery Center. Terrence Turner from the center highlighted the opportunity to connect with the community and educate them on food production, saying, "Well, it allows us to connect with the community and it allows us to teach them the importance of food production so that they're able to actually save a life themselves, which is great."
Vicky, also from the Capital District Recovery Center, added, "We're trying to act as part of the community, and from now on, we have services there. We can help them get over the people that are trying to do this because they help with the work, and we're very proud to be a part of the community."
